The "Classic" Cedar Log

Western Red Cedar - the highest quality wood used in log homes today!

Western Red Cedar is known for its smooth grain and elegant finish. Its pleasing fragrance is a subtle reminder of its holistic beauty.

Western Red Cedar timbers are known for their tight, straight grain. We use red cedar grown in British Columbia for a good reason. B.C.'s moderate rain forest climate ensures that this slow-growing wood does not warp and twist like other woods. Timbers can be installed faster and with less effort. When our timbers settle, they won't check or split like other species. As a result, each home has a high quality natural look.

Western Red Cedar is energy efficient too. As determined by the Canadian National Research Council, our western red cedar log system is the most energy efficient for all Canadian climates - regardless of home heating fuel. Our logs fit and settle tightly, protecting you against unnecessary drafts in any season. We recommend this great article by Bill Kolida that describes the energy efficiency of log homes.

These logs are durable. Western red cedar contains thujic acid - a natural resin that repels moths, insects, termites and vermin. Western red cedar handles moisture well, and for this reason, it is used in saunas across the world.

Since 1952, we have been perfecting this log product. The wall system that we have developed is the easiest to build, the most reliable and the tightest fitting in North America!

Saddle notch corners with tie-down rods ensure tight structural fit. Double tongue and groove joins ensure logs fit together snuggly without caulking, gaskets, chinking, spiking or splines. Mid-section logs are joined behind tight-fitting corner sections. In our premiere wall system, there are no exposed seams - a rarity in rectangular milled construction.

Our "Classic" cedar log system comes with a limited lifetime warranty. You will not find a better assurance of quality than that!
